My Tips Travel

Broadway musicals

A must-see program for anyone who goes to the city of New York is attend one of several Broadway musicals. Size success that make these shows, which often end up being “exported” to other countries. One example is the musical Lion King in theaters in São Paulo, Brazil.

Anyone may have heard of the super production of these shows. And no matter how hard you try to imagine how they might be, after watching the truth of these shows, you will be surprised with concern of every detail and open mouth with scenes we believe to be impossible to produce.

Contrary to what many tourists think there is no “O” Theatre on Broadway, but 40 of them spread near “street” Broadway, in the vicinity of Times Square, the so-called Theatre District. That’s because almost every show has its own theater, where it will be displayed during his time in theaters. And this time, can sometimes last for years.

Broadway Theaters

Said theaters “Broadway” are those who harbor the most expensive productions and offering more than 500 seats. But those who have fewer places available and receive music not so super produced and cheaper tickets, are called “Off-Broadway”.

On our trip to New York in October 2013, we had the opportunity to watch the famous musical Phantom of the Opera (The Phantom of the Opera) this year, 2013, celebrates its 25 years in poster. This musical takes place at The Majestic Theatre, between 7th and 8th Avenue.

The production is fantastic and I confess that in some moments tears rolled down my face. The orchestra is wonderful and after a few minutes after the start of the play, you feel within that history. And the fact that the scenes are not just restricted to the stage area (things happen out of it) will make you feel even more incorporated into the show. Simply sensational. Do not think of leaving this city without first watch at least one of these musicals.

Where to buy

Tickets can be purchased at the box office of Broadway theaters or in the offices of TKTS where you can purchase tickets for the same day at a discount. One of them is in Times Square, underneath those red stairs, the other in South Street Seaport (corner of Front Street and John Street) and Downtown Brooklyn (corner of Jay Street and Myrtle Avenue Promenade). But remember, if you want to watch the music is much in demand, it may be that the tickets are exhausted and not sobrem to be sold with discounts for TKTS. For opening hours, visit www.tdf.org .

So if you do not want to risk losing your music out there, you might as well buy your tickets in advance here in Brazil. Today there are operators and representatives of agencies such as the RCA Tours, Gapnet and Trend Operator, which can sell them for you. The values are almost the same as the box office and you can still pay real and already choose their place in advance.

If you prefer to buy online, try the site itself Broadway (with the option to print your ticket at home or take it at the box office) or Ticktmaster.
